QC, China CCPIT discuss trade and investment cooperation

Doha, Qatar: Yesterday, the Qatar Chamber (QC) hosted a Chinese delegation representing the Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the China Chamber of International Commerce led by its Vice Chairman, Yu Jilanlong.

QC First Vice-President Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari welcomed the delegation, which included a number of Qatari businessmen.

Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation, exploring investment opportunities in both countries, and expanding partnership and cooperation between the Qatari and Chinese private sectors.

Speaking at the meeting, Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari praised the excellent relations between Qatar and China, noting that their trade exceeded QR87 billion last year, up from QR42.7 billion in 2020. He stressed that China is one of Qatar’s most important trading partners.

Elaborating on the investment climate in Qatar, he stressed that Qatar is experiencing an all-round economic boom thanks to the sound economic strategies of Wise Leadership, which have made Qatar a leading regional and international investment and business hub. “Qatar has developed world-class infrastructure, established free and industrial zones, and enacted economic regulations that have created an attractive investment environment,” he said.

Al Kuwari called on Chinese companies to invest in Qatar and form partnerships with Qatari companies in various sectors, including industry, services and tourism, stressing that the Qatari private sector is interested in investing in new industries and establishing new trade alliances.

He also stressed that Qatari investors are keen to explore investment opportunities in various sectors in China. He also stressed that the Chamber encourages Qatari investors to invest in China and cooperate with Chinese counterparts.

He expressed the readiness of the Chamber to cooperate with CCPIT and activate the agreements signed between them for the benefit of the private sector in both countries.

CCPIT Vice-Chairman Yu Jilanlong thanked the Chamber for organizing the meeting, underlining its commitment to strengthening cooperation between the Qatari and Chinese private sectors.

He emphasized the importance of Qatar for China, noting that the two countries’ trade is constantly growing and there are many successful Qatari investments in China in various sectors. He also emphasized that Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup has attracted the world’s attention to Qatar.

Jilanlong added that the delegation includes several leading Chinese companies specializing in sectors such as industry, agriculture, AI and financial consulting. He invited members of the chamber and Qatari investors to visit his country to learn more about the investment climate and opportunities.

He also invited Qatari companies to participate in the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) to be held from November 26 to 30, 2024 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing.
