WTA Seoul Day 2 Predictions Including Raducanu vs Stearns

2022 semi-finalist Emma Raducanu returns to the WTA Korea Open in Seoul. After a first-round loss at the US Open, the Brit should be desperate to get more playing time and continue to build her form. But it won’t be easy for her with a first-round match against Peyton Stearns. We’ve also predicted Tuesday’s half of the matches in a separate article – featuring Yulia Putintseva vs. Amanda Anisimova. Who do you think will emerge victorious?

WTA Seoul Day 2 Predictions

Polina Kudermetova vs. Priscilla Hon

Direct Combat: First meeting

In the summer, Priscilla Hon couldn’t manage to win any tournament she played, but that all changed at the US Open. Qualifying for the main draw was a very difficult task, even if she couldn’t do much against eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka in the first round. Now, Hon also qualified in Seoul and looked very strong. Polina Kudermetova may have trouble repeating her quarterfinal from last year, she only got there as a lucky loser.
Forecast: Hon in 3

Tatjana Maria vs. Victoria Tomova

Direct Combat: Tomova 2-0

Players who can handle Tatjana Maria’s tough style have generally done well against her over the years. Viktoriya Tomova has crushed the German veteran twice this year, giving her just one game in Hobart and four in Bad Homburg. It helps that she’s not an overly unpredictable player, and Tomova won’t be overdoing it by accident. It’s impressive what the 37-year-old Maria is doing on tour at this point in her career, but it’s hard to trust her after their last two matches this season.
Forecast: Tomova in 2

Emma Raducanu vs. Peyton Stearns

Direct Combat: Raducan 1-0

Emma Raducanu recently beat Peyton Stearns in Washington before leaving planet Earth for a few weeks and losing all that momentum heading into the US Open. The Brit should know by now that the rhythm of the match is key, and that should be a big focus for her right now. Seoul is where she’s done very well in 2022, putting in one of her best WTA Tour runs outside of the 2021 US Open. She’s more well-rounded than Stearns and is the slight favourite for this clash.
Forecast: Raducanu in 3
