‘Baby Reindeer’ Creator Richard Gadd Signs First Look Deal with Netflix

Fresh off of winning six Emmy Awards for Netflix’s Baby Reinder, creator, executive producer, writer and star of the limited series Richard Gadd is expanding his relationship with the streaming network by signing a multi-year, first-look deal for the scripted series.

“I’m incredibly excited to continue my creative journey with Netflix. They took a chance on me when I wasn’t making it in television, and I’ll always be grateful for that,” Gadd said in a statement. “I can’t wait to spend many more years with Netflix ideas with Ted, Bela, Anne, Peter and the incredible team that works at the company.”

The news of the expanded partnership was revealed by Ted Sarandos, Co-CEO of Netflix, during the Royal Television Society (RTS) convention in London.

Alongside Gadd, the drama stars Jessica Gunning as Martha, Nava Mau as Teri and Tom Goodman-Hill as Darrien.

Following its world premiere, the show spent eight weeks in the top ten global television shows (in English) and was aired in the top ten television shows in 92 countries. In 91 days on the streaming platform, “Baby Reindeer” had 88.4 million views.

The six Emmy Awards for this series are Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Outstanding Casting for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. The series also won the Breakthrough Limited Series Award at the Inaugural Gotham TV Awards this year.

In addition to Gadd, the series is executive produced by Petra Fried, Ed Macdonald, Matt Jarvis, Wim De Greef. Weronika Tofilska and Josephine Bornebusch are serving as directors, Matthew Mulot is producing, and Clerkenwell Films is producing.
