Pages, Keynote, Numbers updated for iOS, iPadOS, macOS

Updates have been made to the Pages, Keynote, and Numbers apps.

After iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia were made publicly available, Apple released corresponding updates to the iWork suite, and iPad received the addition of Apple Pencil Pro support.

Apple on Monday released long-awaited updates to its operating systems following its WWDC presentation. The company released updates to Pages, Numbers and Keynote a day later.

The iWork updates, appearing in the iOS App Store and Mac App Store, aren’t as extensive as their operating system counterparts. Indeed, in the case of Pages and Numbers for macOS, the 14.2 update for each lists the update as containing “bug fixes and performance improvements.”

Keynote on macOS has more changes in version 14.2, with the release history explaining that HDR images and videos are displayed in a higher dynamic range on supported displays. Users can also play a slideshow during a FaceTime call or video conference, and the presentation window is automatically shared.

Both of these changes require macOS Sequoia to work.

For iOS and iPadOS versions, Numbers and Pages share the same notes. It allows Apple Pencil Pro users to switch tools, line thicknesses, and colors by squeezing the stylus.

The apps also include a new document browser for creating new documents or finding existing ones. This change requires iOS 18 or iPadOS 18.

Keynote on iOS and iPadOS also includes support for the Apple Pencil Pro squeeze. There is also support for HDR images and videos “on supported devices” when using iOS 18 or iPadOS 18.

Finally, Keynote users can scroll through slides hands-free using a double-tap gesture on supported Apple Watch models. This requires watchOS 11 to work.
