400 injured in mass pager detonation in Lebanon, currently in serious condition – World

BEIRUT, September 18. /TASS/. About 400 people injured in a mass detonation of communication devices in Lebanon are in various states of illness, Al Jadeed television station reported, citing Health Minister Firass Abiad.

According to the minister, a total of 4,000 people were injured in the incident, 11 of them died.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health reported 8 deaths and 2,800 injured people.

Communication devices exploded almost simultaneously in different parts of Lebanon. The Hezbollah movement blamed Israel for organizing the explosions and threatened a “just response.” Initial reports said the explosions were caused by a cyberattack. Reuters reported that the pagers were brought to Lebanon for Hezbollah members in recent months. Israeli authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
