Co-op launches 24/7 online grocery delivery in London, Leeds and Manchester

FOOD & DRINK NEWS UK

The Co-op has launched a new 24-hour grocery delivery service to stores in city centres in London, Leeds and Manchester.

The retailer said it made the decision to make the change due to growing demand for fast delivery from customers such as shift workers, parents of small families and people who like to party late into the night.

Grocery deliveries will be made via Co-op’s e-commerce partners: Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.

New research from Co-op shows that more than 40% of QSR customers would use a 11pm-5am delivery service if it was available, with London customers most likely to shop 24/7.

Chris Conway, e-commerce director at the co-op, said: “Meeting the needs of our member-owners and customers is at the heart of our approach and is in line with our strategy to grow our share of the express trade market both through our own online store and through strategic partners.

“Social behaviors, including changing lifestyles and shift work, are increasing demand for fast and convenient online grocery delivery at unusual times of the day.”

Co-op has also expanded its online offering to more than 1,600 stores during existing opening hours, aiming to capture more than a third of the express market share.

The retailer said that more than 80% of the UK population now has access to Cage grocery delivery via your own online store or delivery partners.
