Global Bio-India 2024 witnessed a key roundtable hosted by the Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) in collaboration with the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC). The event brought together over 25 leading biotechnology experts, policymakers, industry leaders and investors to explore emerging trends and investment opportunities in the growing Indian biotechnology sector.

The discussion led by Shri Vishwajeet Sahay and co-led by Dr. Manish Diwan highlighted the critical need for growth stage capital for biotech startups. Emphasis was placed on co-investment strategies and mobilisation of domestic capital pools to effectively scale biotech ventures.

Key takeaways included launching the AcE Funds booklet, strengthening mentoring programs, strengthening international collaboration, addressing data security issues, and strengthening intellectual property and patent protection. The recently approved BioE3 policy and its role in helping the Indian biotechnology industry to reach a valuation of USD 300 billion by 2030 was also discussed.
