How will the new tax rules affect Suzuki Cultus buyers?

The Suzuki Cultus – a popular choice among budget-conscious city dwellers – will see a significant price hike due to new taxes introduced by the Pakistani government.

The updated vehicle tax rules will apply to both tax filers and non-tax filers who purchase popular 1000cc cars.

The Suzuki Cultus – known for its compact design and practicality in city traffic – remains a firm favourite, although its popularity has declined somewhat compared to previous models.

Its affordable price, as well as fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs, make it a preferred choice for private users as well as ride-hailing companies such as Uber and Careem.

As per the new tax regime, Suzuki Cultus buyers will face different tax brackets depending on their taxpayer status. The Cultus VXR, priced at Rs 38,58,000, will attract an additional tax of Rs 38,580 for taxpayers.

However, non-filers will have to pay a higher tax of Rs 1,15,740.

Those opting for the more expensive Cultus VXL-AGS model, which is priced at Rs 45,46,000, will have to pay an additional tax of Rs 45,460.

Non-filers will have to pay an additional Rs 1,36,380, which means a significant increase in the overall cost for those who fall outside the tax bracket.

The introduction of these taxes is intended to encourage greater tax compliance and potentially reduce the financial burden on the Treasury. Buyers are advised to factor in these additional costs when budgeting for a new vehicle.
