Aldi is selling a $13 version of the popular kitchen gadget that’s almost 7 times more expensive

The vast and wonderful world of gadgets and culinary devices is full of items that can be considered trivial, insanely expensive, and completely unnecessary—with the exception of a few useful items like vegetable choppers, slow cookers, and waffle irons. Sure, we’ve come a long way from the garish and objectively bad days of the “As Seen on TV” commercials of yesteryear, and thankfully devices like the comically worthless Eggtractor have been consigned to the graveyard of useless gadgets. But as far as we’ve come, navigating the minefield of expensive hunks of plastic and clunky kitchen appliances is still a dance we haven’t quite mastered.

Thankfully, we can rely on a sea of brutally honest reviews to help us make more informed decisions about the gadgets we buy and the ones we put on the shelf, putting our hard-earned money back into our wallets for every essential that comes our way. Not every gadget is a waste of money, though, and these days it’s not hard to find a device that works well and is aesthetically pleasing. For example, this electric salt and pepper mill set from CB2 would be a stunning addition to our regular everyday tablescape, but it’s hard to justify spending $89.95 on what are essentially just fancy salt and pepper shakers.

Ambiano Electric Gravity Salt and Pepper Mill Set

Aldi

Of course, you can always count on Aldi to have an equally great dupe, and you won’t have to spend more than $12.99 to get your hands on one. The Ambiano Electric Gravity Salt and Pepper Mill Set is the perfect blend of form and function, and a beautifully elegant addition to any carefully designed countertop. Each mill features an ergonomic bottle shape that makes it easy to hold and operate with one hand. The adjustable ceramic mill allows you to set the coarseness to your preferred needs and flavor preferences, and once filled, simply turn it upside down for automatic operation. You’ll also get two AAA batteries included to make sure you’ll be able to season your food in no time.

Despite the huge price difference, there are no noticeable differences between the two sets, aside from the walnut accent on the top of the CB2 compared to the stainless steel Aldi. The CB2 also offers a variety of color options, while Aldi simply offers the classic black and white.

Of course, where you spend your money is entirely up to you, but it’s hard to deny that you can buy six sets at Aldi before you even come close to the price of one of the CB2s. Do what you want, my friend. I’m sure we’ll run into each other at Aldi.
