Sony is planning more remasters, and the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating released ahead of schedule is any indication. Horizon Zero DawnGuerilla Games’ critically acclaimed 2017 open-world title is getting a remaster, according to the ESRB.

The advertisement stated that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will have the same rating as the original: T for Teen due to blood, drug references, language, mild sexual themes, and violence. It was rated on PlayStation 5 and PC. Unfortunately, the description is the same as on the original game’s page, so there is no other information.

While the game hasn’t been officially announced yet, the ESRB rating is a good indicator that a reveal is coming soon, and a fun way to learn more about the game before its release. PlayStation has also been remastering many of its recent first-party games, even titles that are still playable on newer consoles like The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered from the beginning of this year.

Horizon Zero Dawn is potentially another example of a recent PlayStation release that doesn’t need a remaster. While it originally released on PlayStation 4, it received a patch for PlayStation 5 that added increased frame rates and 4K checkerboard resolution in 2021.

Its continuation Horizon Forbidden West released in 2022 and we expect a third installment to be in development. In the meantime, Guerilla is working on Lego Horizon Adventureswhich was announced at Summer Game Fest 2024. It’s a more family-friendly take on the post-apocalyptic adventure, without the complicated crafting and violence that the main series is known for. The game will be available on PS5 and PC, as well as Nintendo Switch — the first time a Sony exclusive has hit a portable device.
