The finalists for the first edition of the Momentum Media Australian AI Awards have been announced.

The awards – the first of their kind in Australia – will provide nationwide recognition to professionals and organisations that have developed innovative AI solutions that have catapulted the economy across sectors including wealth management, accounting, aviation, banking, cybersecurity, defence, credit brokerage, law and many more.

A total of 193 finalists from various economic sectors were selected to compete for awards in 10 individual categories and 15 group categories.

Several wealth management firms are competing for the awards, including Pivot Wealth, Count, DASH Technology Group and Suncorp.

EY – one of the four largest global accounting networks – received 14 nominations in several categories, the most of any finalist.

The finalists also included academics and researchers from various universities across Australia, as well as legal service providers, cybersecurity firms, mortgage brokers, real estate agencies, real estate technology companies, real estate research groups and defence and aerospace companies.

Finalists were selected using a robust awards methodology that provides the basis for evaluating and benchmarking Australia’s leading AI professionals and businesses.

Judging criteria for each award category are both quantitative and qualitative, and include growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence and contribution to the Australian AI toolkit.

To select finalists, all entries went through a thorough audit process, checking demographics and other information against category eligibility criteria based on the information provided in the entry.

Entries deemed to meet the criteria were reviewed and judged by a panel consisting of members of the editorial team and Momentum Media directors (and stakeholders where required) to select the finalists in each category.

The finalists’ work will now be submitted to a panel of respected academics, business executives, entrepreneurs and innovators. They will assess each work against the criteria for each award category and will evaluate each piece of work against the category criteria to produce an overall score.

Multiple judges will individually evaluate each entry in each category, awarding an aggregate score and rating.

The total judges’ scores for each entry in each category are tabulated. The entry with the highest number of points is deemed the winner.

The winners will be announced during the gala ceremony to be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney.
