Plans to strengthen research and innovation – FBC News

The Government, in consultation with the private sector, will develop and implement a policy, strategy and institutional framework for research, development and innovation to promote technology adoption.

This initiative was highlighted in the National Development Plan 2025-2029 and Vision 2050.

Currently, minimal research and development activities are undertaken in the public and private sectors.

Research, development and innovation initiatives will focus on strategic areas aligned with development priorities, such as agriculture, as well as on potential manufacturing and services sectors.

These activities will also include environmental protection and disaster risk management.

The government plans to prioritise AI and the potential benefits it brings, including considering appropriate incentives, funding models and capacity-building measures to support research, development and innovation.
