Hefei e-commerce firm under investigation for misleading consumers

Three Sheep Group, a major e-commerce company based in Hefei, has been placed under investigation following recent public complaints, according to a statement from the Hefei Market Supervision and Administration Bureau on Thursday evening.

The office, together with the city’s commerce and public security bureaus, jointly launched an investigation in accordance with laws and regulations and pledged to protect consumers’ rights, the office said.

Based on previous reports, the company was recently accused of misleading consumers during a live broadcast of a mooncake brand being sold. The brand sparked controversy because while the name suggests a Hong Kong origin, no physical stores were found in Hong Kong, and the packaging indicated they were made in Guangzhou and Foshan in Guangdong Province.
