Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Host NBC Competition Series ‘Destination X’

Jeffrey Dean Morgan will host NBC’s upcoming reality series “Destination X.”

The show is based on the Beglian format created by Geronimo and distributed globally by Be-Entertainment. Morgan will also executive produce the series, marking the first time he has hosted an unscripted series.

“Jeffrey Dean Morgan personifies the mischievous international man of mystery, making him the perfect host and puppet master for this new adventure road trip series,” said Corie Henson, executive vice president, unscripted content, competition and game shows, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “He’s handsome, charming, funny and the ultimate travel companion!”

The official description of the series is:

“Viewers will follow contestants as they embark on the journey of a lifetime with no idea where they are. In order to win, they must discover their mystery locations. Once aboard the darkened Destination X bus, the journey becomes a real-life game board, with challenges designed to offer clever clues to their location, along with a few false clues to keep them guessing. At the end of each episode, contestants must guess where they are, and the one furthest from their actual location is sent back. The first contestant to reach Destination X will be declared the winner. With high stakes and jaw-dropping gameplay, the series will keep viewers engaged and on the journey.”

“’Destination X’ captivated me with its combination of travel, mystery and gaming,” added Morgan. “I can’t wait to take this crazy guessing game around the world as the Master of Ceremonies, guiding players through challenges that test their mental and physical abilities.”

Morgan currently stars in the AMC series The Walking Dead: Dead City, reprising his role as Negan, a role he began playing on The Walking Dead in 2016. He is also known for roles in shows such as Supernatural and Grey’s Anatomy, and most recently appeared in the Amazon series The Boys. In film, he is known for films such as Watchmen and P.S. I Love You.

Its representatives include UTA, Anonymous Content and Goodman Genow.

“When we thought about who we wanted to travel the world with, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was the first person that came to mind,” said Toby Gorman, president of Universal Television Alternative Studio. “Destination X is full of adventure, excitement and intrigue, all of which Jeffrey embodies.”

Destination X is produced by Twofour, part of ITV Studios, and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Andy Cadman and Lee Smithurst will executive produce alongside Twofour managing director Dan Adamson and chief creative officer David Clews. Twofour production and operations director Shireen Abbott will oversee production. Morgan will also executive produce in addition to hosting. Destination X is the second commission between NBC and BBC after The Traitors. Twofour will produce both versions. The BBC will announce its host at a later date.
