AI Startup Fails to Stop Rivals from Using Body-Worn Cameras at Political Events

A startup specializing in artificial intelligence products for law enforcement has lost a bid to ban competitors’ body-worn cameras from political events, saying the devices pose a threat to national security.

GovernmentGPT Inc. claims that Axon Enterprise Inc.’s Body 4 cameras contain Quectel chips that are “linked to the Chinese government and therefore the Chinese Communist Party.” Using Bodycams at high-profile events creates “significant espionage risks and real-time surveillance capabilities concerns” that could allow the Chinese government or other foreign adversaries, such as Iran, to interfere in the upcoming U.S. election, the plaintiffs say.
