Jimmy Fallon battles for PEOPLE magazine’s sexiest TV host title ahead of sexiest man alive announcement

The Tonight Show host asked the remaining candidates, Seth Meyers, Mario Lopez and Mark Consuelos, to drop out of the race and let him win

Jimmy Fallon, we heard you loud and clear.

In the September 18 episode Evening programFallon, 50, celebrated being nominated by PEOPLE magazine readers for one of TV’s sexiest hosts and urged the other candidates to drop out of the race.

“I’m going up against Seth Meyers, Mario Lopez, and Marc Consuel. Ugh!” Fallon told the audience before going on to argue why each of his competitors should submit to him.

“I’m very honored, but Seth would let me have this… He would want me to have this. He’s a younger guy — let grandpa have one thing,” Fallon joked.

After narrowing down the choices to Lopez and Consuelos, Fallon joked that they were both “okay” but “I think they would let me do it.”

Then he realized that Live with Kelly and Mark AND Access to Hollywood hosts could “choose to remove themselves from the candidate list,” and he passed on a message to both of them.

“Mark Consuelos, please remove your name from the list of candidates for sexiest TV host,” Fallon said, looking directly into the camera.

“Then it’s me versus Mario Lopez,” he continued. “Then he’ll say, out of respect, ‘Jimmy, you did it.’ He was a guest on the show. Give it to me.”

Fallon then began sharing PEOPLE magazine swag with the audience, showing off a tote bag that said “I’m a PEOPLE person” and pretending to ride a Segway.

He then showed off his PEOPLE hat, pointing out that just as the magazine celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, it also turns 50 this year. He noted, “Look at this. ‘Created in 1974.’ You know what else was created in 1974? Me!”

“Are you kidding me? This should be obvious,” he said when he realized he was born the same year as PEOPLE.

Another gadget Fallon wanted to show off was a beach towel with the words PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive written on it, which he spread out on the ground and posed as if he was on the cover of the magazine.

He concluded by addressing the audience: “Go to People.com and vote for the sexiest TV presenter!”
