EU Cross-Border E-Commerce Forum ends in Liège

The EU Cross-Border E-Commerce Forum, organised by Wallonia Export-Investment Agency (AWEX), Liege Airport and OBOR Group, concluded last week, cementing its status as the premier networking event in the cargo sector. This year’s forum saw record attendance, with 581 of 792 registered participants, according to an official statement from Liege Airport.

It was attended by senior decision-makers and thought leaders from over 200 companies around the world, and executives from key industry players actively participated in the discussions. The success of the event was supported by Challenge Group as a Diamond Sponsor, the release recalls.

“The team at Liège Airport, led by Torsten Wefers, is extremely happy and proud of this event. It has undoubtedly set a new benchmark in the cargo industry and was attended by senior executives from many companies and countries. It proves that Liège is more than just infrastructure; it is evolving into a vibrant market,” says Frédéric Brun, Head of Commercial Cargo and Logistics at Liège Airport.

“Interestingly, 20% of the airlines taking part in the event are not yet Liege partners, which creates excellent opportunities for future collaboration. After six months of hard work, it is clear that the ambition and appeal of this event resonated with all participants.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back!” adds Brun.

The forum covered a wide range of topics, from e-commerce trends to the future of cross-border logistics. Insightful panel discussions and interactive sessions provided participants with valuable industry insights and opportunities to explore new business opportunities, the release added.

“This year’s EU Cross-Border E-Commerce Forum has once again shown the key role that cross-border logistics and e-commerce play in shaping the future of global trade. Wallonia, with its strategic location and strong infrastructure, notably through Liège Airport, continues to be a key enabler for companies to expand their reach across Europe and beyond. At AWEX, we are committed to supporting partnerships that help companies thrive in this competitive environment,” says Michel Kempeneers, General Manager International at Wallonia Export-Investment Agency (AWEX).

Gianluca Marcangelo, Head of Industry Relations and Marketing at Challenge Group, says: “It was an honour to be a Diamond Sponsor of this forum. We were delighted to showcase our valuable assets and advanced capabilities at our headquarters in Liege. It was great to see so many industry leaders gathered here, experiencing both our infrastructure and Belgian hospitality. The discussions during the panels were insightful and really highlighted the need for collaboration and innovation in the future of cross-border logistics.”
