Trading App Goes Viral Thanks to Nancy Pelosi Lookalike at UFC Match

A tech startup put a Nancy Pelosi impersonator in the front row at a UFC match as part of a publicity stunt to launch a new app that lets users “invest like a politician.”

Christopher Josephs, co-founder of Los Angeles-based Autopilot, said his trading app saw thousands of downloads over the weekend after his company spent a six-figure sum to sponsor the recent UFC fight in Las Vegas between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili.

Josephs hired an actress and dressed her in a pink pantsuit and sunglasses — giving her a striking resemblance to the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He also made sure that “fake Pelosi” was visible in the front row.

As O’Malley emerged from the locker room and entered the ring to prepare for the fight, a camera captured the “fake Pelosi” standing a few feet from the ring, in full view of the crowd.

According to Josephs, “the parody worked” because people took photos and posted them on their social media accounts.

“Now millions more people understand that our message is a ban on trade for politicians,” he wrote on the X website.

“Although I’m sure someone gave me the middle finger along the way,” he added.

The company also had a Tesla Cybertruck that had been transformed into a moving billboard, driving around Las Vegas with a banner that read “Pelosi 2024 – Invest Like a Politician” — making it look like a campaign ad.

Josephs and his team are also behind the infamous “Pelosi Tracker” social media account, which monitors the stock trades of the San Francisco congresswoman and her husband, venture capitalist and real estate investor Paul Pelosi.

Pelosi has come under fire for the fact that her position as a senior lawmaker gives her access to information that could influence market decisions.

Earlier this month, at an event in Austin, the comedian poked fun at the real Pelosi by dressing up in a Democratic supporter’s outfit and approaching the congresswoman to ask her for stock trading tips.

According to the company, the advertising campaign managed to draw attention to the Autopiliot app, which was downloaded thousands of times. Autopilot

According to the Autopilot website, users have conducted over 9 million trades for a total investment of over $300 million.

According to the company, the app is currently used by more than 90,000 investors and the platform was “created by the team behind the viral Pelosi Tracker account.”

“Nancy Pelosi Stock Tracker” is an X-account that boasts over 750,000 followers. It lists stock trades made by members of Congress.
