NHL 25: Skill-Based One-Time Plays Explained

Players have become accustomed to the release of an annual hockey game over the years, and EA has taken a step forward with the series.

While every year brings new innovations, this year will be no different. Several unique features have been added, such as the new Ice-Q technology, which will work closely with Skill Based One-Timers games.

EA noted that this new feature looks like this:

With ICE-Q opening up more offensive options, the new Skill Based One-Timer moves really shine.

Anchored by a new in-game visual indicator that identifies a teammate as a target for the Skill Based One-Timer, when passing to a teammate you must enter shot control as the puck arrives. The window to hit the Skill Based One-Timer is dynamic, taking into account how quickly the pass is completed as well as the shooter’s skills, such as the One T X-Factor.

If you time it right, you unleash the Skill Based One-Timer, which is more powerful and accurate. If you time it wrong, the accuracy of the shot decreases, raising the stakes and making the action even more exciting.
