Barclays Adds Ex-Citi Davis Banker to Canadian Recruiting Spree – BNN Bloomberg

(Bloomberg) — Barclays Plc has hired Ken Davis as chief operating officer for Western Canada, bolstering its team that focuses on transactions across the country’s key energy and commodities sectors.

Davis most recently worked at Citigroup Inc., where he led the bank’s Canadian natural resources and clean energy transition business. He will be based in Barclays’ Calgary office. He previously worked at Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

Barclays also tapped Greg Petitt as head of infrastructure, energy and utilities banking in Canada. He held senior positions in the same industries at BMO Capital Markets, where he worked for more than 18 years, according to his LinkedIn page. He will be based in Toronto.

Davis and Petit will report to Ryan Voegeli, who Barclays hired earlier this year to rebuild a banking team that had been hit by a wave of departures, including Canada CEO Bruce Rothney. Last month, the bank announced the hiring of veteran Stephen Stewart as head of M&A execution in Canada.

“Greg and Ken will continue to build on our strong position in Canada, deepening our footprint in the infrastructure and energy transition sectors across North America, and strengthening our commitment to serving Western Canadian clients more broadly,” Geoffrey Belsher, president and country head of Barclays Canada, said in a statement.

Earlier this week, Barclays announced the expansion of its investment banking franchise in North America, hiring two people and promoting its U.S. industrials practice. It hired Derek McNulty as global co-head of chemicals investment banking, Derek Davidson as head of U.S. commercial, residential and industrial services and named Jared Itkowitz as head of transportation and logistics for the Americas, according to a memo seen by Bloomberg News.
