FS to visit Spain and Great Britain

Finance Secretary Paul Chan will fly to Europe tomorrow, where he will visit Madrid and London before returning to Hong Kong on September 29.

Mr Chan will lead a delegation from the innovation and technology (I&T) sector on the trip, which will include senior executives from Science & Technology Parks (HKSTP) and Cyberport, as well as CEOs of startups in artificial intelligence, biotech, fintech, green tech, Web 3.0 and other advanced sectors.

In Madrid, from September 22 to 25, it will visit various local I&T institutions and enterprises and meet with members of the political, business and I&T communities. The delegation will also attend a business lunch organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to promote Hong Kong’s advantages, in particular its growing I&T ecosystem.

From September 25 to 28 in London, Mr Chan will attend the plenary session of the Hong Kong-Europe Business Council, a Hong Kong dinner hosted by the Trade Development Board, a lunch hosted by the Hong Kong Association and a roundtable hosted by the British think tank Asia House.

On this occasion, he will discuss the latest developments in Hong Kong and its advantages, and will also meet with representatives of the local political, business and financial community.

In two European capitals, representatives of HKSTP, Cyberport and startups from the delegation will establish contacts with institutions and members of venture capital funds and I&T communities, looking for cooperation opportunities.

In Mr Chan’s absence, Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong will act as Financial Secretary.
