Chennai Techie Committed Suicide, Treated for Depression

A 38-year-old software engineer suffering from depression committed suicide at his home in Chennai. Police said Karthikeyan electrocuted himself and his wife found him tangled in a live wire on Thursday.

Karthikeyan, from Tamil Nadu’s Theni district, lived in Chennai with his wife and two children, aged 10 and 8. He had been working as a technician in a software company in Chennai for the past 15 years. He was undergoing treatment for depression.

Karthikeyan was alone at home when the incident happened. His wife K Jayarani had gone to a temple in Thirunallur, about 300 km from Chennai, on Monday. She dropped the children at her mother’s house. She returned on Thursday evening and knocked on the door, but there was no answer. She used a spare key to enter the house and found Karthikeyan lying with a live wire wrapped around his body.

A case of unnatural death was registered and an investigation was launched.
