BookMyShow Warns Fans: ‘Unauthorized Platforms’ Selling Fake Coldplay Concert Tickets – ‘Please Don’t Fall for It…’

Coldplay’s upcoming concerts in Mumbai have created a frenzy among Indian fans, resulting in huge demand and technical issues on ticketing platforms.

A BookMyShow spokesperson also told ANI, “We had implemented a queuing system to cope with the huge demand and within minutes, we resolved the issues caused by suspicious and malicious traffic, causing a short delay but ensuring minimal disruption to the true fans. Due to the unprecedented demand, a third show was added in Mumbai soon after which also received a fantastic response.”

BookMyShow and its live events arm, BookMyShow Live, shared a joint post on Instagram warning fans about potential scams. The post read, “It has come to our attention that unauthorised platforms are listing tickets for the Coldplay Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India, both before and after the official sale. These tickets are invalid. Selling tickets is illegal in India and punishable by law. Please do not fall for this as you will end up buying fake tickets. Avoid scams! BookMyShow is the only official ticketing platform.”

About Coldplay’s concerts in Mumbai

The British rock band has added a third show (January 21) to the Mumbai leg of its Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025, citing “phenomenal demand,” hours after fans expressed disappointment over long virtual queues on BookMyShow.

The BookMyShow website and app server crashed on Sunday as tickets for the British band’s concerts scheduled for next year were being sold. Several fans shared screenshots of their frozen computer and smartphone screens as the app saw a surge in traffic.

According to BookMyShow, the ticket sales for the two shows on January 18 and 19, 2025, at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Mumbai were supposed to begin at noon. Many reported that the tickets were unavailable for booking until much later than 12:15 pm.

Ticket prices ranged from 2500 to 12,500, from 35,000 for the lounge area, according to the platform’s website. After an outage of almost an hour, the server was back online, with BookMyShow reporting “heavy traffic” and a waiting list that reached 8,42,745, as of 1:39 p.m. on the BookMyShow website.

“Due to heavy traffic, the queue is moving slower than expected. Thank you for your patience!” the message on the platform read.

The fan claimed that other platforms were selling Coldplay tickets at inflated prices. “Dear @coldplay, fans in India are struggling to get tickets for @Bookmyshow_live with a waiting list of over 300k people, but platforms like Viagogo (search Coldplay India tickets on Google; the first sponsored link will be VIAGOGO) are selling them at inflated prices (sic),” he said.

The Mumbai concert will be Coldplay’s first visit to India in eight years. The Grammy-winning band previously performed in Mumbai as part of the Global Citizen Festival in 2016. The Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 will kick off on October 30 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, and will conclude on August 31, 2025, with a performance at Wembley Stadium in London, UK.
