iPhone 16 Pro Users Struggle With Touchscreen Issues: Report

A week after the iPhone 16 series hit the market, users started having some issues with the flagship device, the iPhone 16 Pro. According to a report published by 9to5Mac, the increase in user complaints suggests that many smartphone owners are experiencing intermittent issues with their devices’ touchscreen, including delayed responses and unregistered taps. The report indicated that the issue appears to be a software bug rather than a hardware glitch. Apple’s iOS has developed an oversensitivity issue, where the touch rejection algorithm is too eager to reject genuine interactions, leading to lost touches and user dissatisfaction.

One of those complaints on Reddit explained the issues iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max users are having. It stated that if a user first touches the screen next to the camera button, the entire display becomes unresponsive until they let go, except for the home bar. It appears that this unintentional contact with the screen causes iOS to erroneously reject touches, leading to a frustrating user experience.

The ultra-thin bezels of the iPhone 16 Pro screen may contribute to the problem by increasing the likelihood of accidental edge contact and triggering unwanted touch rejections. Because touch rejections can be initiated by a light brush of the skin, users may not be aware of the cause of the problem. By holding the phone naturally, with fingers wrapped around the edges, users may inadvertently trigger touch rejections, especially when using the device without a protective case.

Interestingly, the issue doesn’t seem to occur when the device is idle on the lock screen. It only appears when the phone is unlocked, such as when scrolling through apps or swiping between home screen pages. This further suggests that the issue is software-related, not hardware-related.

iPhone 16 Pro Max Processor

In the advanced iPhone 16 Pro, the processor is the A18 Pro chipset. Both versions have 6-core processors with two performance cores and four efficiency cores. The standard has 5 cores, the Pro has a 6-core graphics processor, the same as last year’s Apple A17 Pro. Apart from that, nothing has changed. Both iPhone 16 Pro models will receive Apple Intelligence at the same time, with the same set of features.

With a 17 percent increase in memory bandwidth, Apple Intelligence technology runs 15 percent faster compared to iPhone 15 Pro, which uses the A17 Pro processor.

According to Apple, the A18 Pro also offers twice the ray tracing performance of the A17 Pro thanks to improved processing capabilities. It includes two performance cores and four efficiency cores, offering a 15 percent increase in overall speed compared to the previous generation.

Unique to the Pro models, the A18 Pro enables advanced multimedia features, including ProRes video recording and faster USB 3 transfer speeds. The camera system is further enhanced by a combination of hardware, software, and intelligence powered by a new chipset.
