New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an incredible student who is always striving to not only learn more about artificial intelligence (AI) and chip technologies but also how to leverage them to bring greater benefits to society and industry, said Jensen Huang, founder, chairman and CEO of graphics chip giant Nvidia.

After attending a CEO roundtable with Prime Minister Modi and other technology leaders, Huang said AI is a new industry that offers a range of manufacturing opportunities and that he looks forward to “a very deep collaboration with India to make that possible.”

“We are helping India gain access to our cutting-edge technologies. We are working with internet companies like digital transformation services provider Yotta Data Services and other internet companies to build next-generation AI supercomputers in India,” the Nvidia CEO said.

Highlighting that India is the third largest startup economy, he said the new generation of startups are AI-based and to achieve more, they need to have AI infrastructure.

“We are working with startups, IITs and many companies in India. We are teaching students how to upskill themselves in this new world of AI. AI is really democratizing computing and this is the moment for India to seize this opportunity,” Huang added.

PM Modi interacted with technology industry leaders in New York at a roundtable anchored by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), School of Engineering. The technology roundtable focused on AI and quantum; biotechnology and life sciences; computers, IT and communications; and semiconductor technologies.

The Prime Minister highlighted the economic transformation taking place in India, especially in the areas of electronics and information technology manufacturing, semiconductors, biotechnology and green growth. He said his government was committed to making India a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing.

Meanwhile, last year, Yotta Data Services announced a partnership with Nvidia to deliver cutting-edge GPU compute infrastructure and platforms for its Shakti Cloud platform.

Infosys and Nvidia also announced plans to expand their strategic partnership to help businesses around the world increase productivity through generative AI applications and solutions. The companies are also jointly developing AI-based solutions in areas such as 5G, cybersecurity and energy transformation.
