North Texas Innovation Alliance and Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners Announce SCEWC Smart Cities Global Startup Challenge

Pitching Challenge to reward companies with pilot and funding opportunities in the United States

DALLAS, September 23, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — North Texas Innovation Alliance (NTXIA)a regional 501(c)3 consortium of over 40 municipalities, agencies, corporations and academic institutions in North Texas working to create the most connected, smart and resilient region in the country, announced an international promotional event called Smart Cities Global Startup Challengewhich will take place during this year’s Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) Barcelona next to your partner Peachtree Corners Curiosity Lab AND Texas cities Frisco, McKinney AND Fort WorthAs part of this call for proposals, five startups will be selected to compete for the opportunity to pilot and fund United States.

This call for proposals provides an opportunity for these companies to interact with some of the leading minds in this field in the United States, and an opportunity to pilot their technology and receive funding that will help them achieve their technology development goals and potentially enter the U.S. market. We are very excited about the innovation these international companies are bringing to the table!”

The 2024 Smart Cities Global Startup Challenge addresses the challenges in the context of the future of transportation, sustainability, and VRU. Companies interested in participating in the pitch event will need to ensure that their solutions address these key challenge areas, and the solutions will focus on:

  • Easing traffic jams
  • Curbside Management
  • Autonomous delivery systems
  • Pedestrian safety
  • Mitigating the Heat Island Effect
  • Energy and water efficiency and resilience
  • Managing Crowds at Large Events from a Public Safety and Visitor Experience Perspective

Companies will also need to ensure their technology is deployment-ready for testing and development in real-world smart city environments.

Finalists will receive passes to SCEWC in Barcelonawhere the final presentation will take place. The winners of the competition will be awarded with travel, a guide and funding. Prizes include:

  • Curiosity Lab will commit $15,000.00 as part of the pilot program, one year of office space in the Innovation Center and access to a global network of partners for additional market support.
  • Frisco AND McKinney, Texas will provide travel and accommodation in the USA Texas AND Georgia for senior management, $10,000.00This includes flights, hotel, ground transportation, meals and office/coworking space. McKinney and Curiosity Lab for its first visit.
  • NTXIA, Frisco AND McKinney, Texas and Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners will develop a detailed schedule of high-level meetings with decision-makers from city departments to explore the feasibility of implementing the pilot.
  • The winners will also be introduced to high-status individuals during Plug and Play, University of North Texasthis Dallas The higher education system, the main healthcare institutions in Texas like Baylor Scott & White Health, Fortune 500 Corporations, North Central Texas Council of Governments, Office With Trade and major sports and entertainment facilities Texas.
  • The winners will enjoy global fame through various media channels.
  • Unique Texas style and bragging rights.

The call for applications for the tender starts September 23Five finalists will be selected by the Smart Cities Global Startup Challenge committee and will present their proposals in person at SCEWC Wednesday, November 6 In USA Pavilion. Each company will have 10 minutes for their pitch, followed by a five-minute Q&A with the judges. After all the presentations and Q&A have concluded, the judges will deliberate for 10 minutes and then announce the winner.
