The new TV horror from the creator of The Conjuring is a combination of Yellowstone and From

‘The Conjuring’ creator James Wan is an executive producer on ‘Teacup,’ a new horror series on Peacock that feels like a cross between ‘From’ and ‘Yellowstone.’

Peacock has released the first official trailer for the upcoming series Teacup , which will hit the streaming platform this fall on Thursday, October 10.

Based on the New York Times bestselling novel Stinger by Robert McCammon, Teacup is set in rural Georgia, where a group of unlikely allies have no choice but to join forces if they are to survive a mysterious threat.

A From MGM+-like feel permeates the debut trailer. Meanwhile, the rural setting may be a bit reminiscent of Yellowstone.

This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, considering former Yellostone producer Ian McCulloch is the showrunner for Teacup.

The trailer builds tension throughout, starting with farm animals clearly spooked by some unseen force. While an approaching storm seems to keep the creatures on edge, a young boy telling his mother that the man in his head warned of a trap suggests something much more sinister is afoot.

The Conjuring Universe creator James Wan will executive produce Atomic Monster, alongside Michael Clear (The 81-File) and Rob Hackett (I Know What You Did Last Summer).

EL Katz, who previously directed episodes of Bly Manor and Swamp Thing, will direct the first two episodes of Teacup.

The new horror series will star Scott Speedman from The Strangers, Yvonne Strahovski from The Handmaid’s Tale and Chaske Spencer (Jessica Jones).

James Wan noted in a statement about the project, “After reading Robert McCammon’s book Stinger, the entire Atomic Monster team felt a spark. The story had all the ingredients for a compelling series, and Ian McCulloch had the vision to bring it to life in a fresh way that was both surprising and darkly atmospheric, but filled with a rich sense of humanity — often devoid of sharp narratives…”

The first two episodes of the upcoming series Teacup will premiere on Peacock on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
