‘The Voice’ Coaches Sing ‘Heartache Tonight’ Ahead of Season 26

Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé will debut in style Voice when Season 26 premieres tonight, September 23, on NBC (the next day on Peacock). But if you can’t wait, you can watch Snoop, Bublé, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani sing the Eagles’ “Heartache Tonight” right now, exclusively on Rolling stone.

The 1979 hit is the traditional group performance this season, featuring all the coaches. As the new kids in town, Snoop and Bublé appropriately deliver the first few lines before returning coaches Stefani and McEntire slide in with some stunning harmonies. By the end, all four of them shout together, “It’s gonna be a heartbreak tonight, a heartbreak tonight/I know!”

This is not the first time Voice coaches opened the season with a classic Eagles song. In 2023, ahead of the 24-game season, coaches Niall Horan, John Legend, McEntire and Stefani sang the group’s debut single, “Take It Easy.”

Trends

Snoop and Bublé announced as coaches for season 26 Voice in May, replacing Chance the Rapper and John Legend. Both have previously appeared on the show, with Snoop serving as the Mega Monitor in season 20 and Bublé serving as Blake Shelton’s advisor in season three. Stefani, meanwhile, is returning for her eighth season, and McEntire will serve as a coach for her third consecutive season.

Even though there is a whole season Voice ahead, the 27th season of the series is fast approaching in the spring of 2025 and will be particularly notable for the return of Adam Levine. The Maroon 5 frontman left the series in 2019 after 16 seasons, which is the second longest run in the history of Voice story after Shelton’s 23-season run. Kelsea Ballerini, Legend and Bublé will join Levine.
