Quasi Robotics Inc. announced a major update to its Quasi Cloud Connect and Q.AI robot management software last week. The company said Cloud Connect 2.0 introduces new features and customization options.

These improvements will give users of Quasi Robotics’ flagship Model C2 autonomous mobile robot (AMR) greater control and flexibility over their material handling operations.

“We worked closely with leaders in life sciences, manufacturing and healthcare to develop Cloud Connect 2.0,” said Tom Dolan, Quasi Robotics Chief Sales Officer. “These industries require precise and adaptive automation, and this update allows users to tailor C2 deliveries to their unique workflows and precise material handling processes.”

Founded in 2017, Quasi Robotics develops AMRs for material handling and intralogistics. Its proprietary Q.AI software provides dynamic route planning, navigation and obstacle avoidance. The company said it also offers rapid deployment and an intuitive user interface.

Frederick, Maryland-based Quasi said its robotics engineers have experience in CAD/CAM design, electrical and mechanical engineering, additive manufacturing, materials design, manufacturing and computer software.

Cloud Connect 2.0 includes new features

Cloud Connect 2.0 is designed to give users precise control and personalization. Quasi Robotics said it includes new capabilities such as Multi-Stop Routes to create complex, workflow-based delivery paths and No-Go Zones to restrict navigation through user-designated areas of the map.

The new Q.AI also includes path-smoothing algorithms to prevent high-speed swaying. The company also announced improved connectivity features to enhance the safety and overall efficiency of the C2 during delivery.

Quasi also redesigned the Cloud Connect user portal and added a “Waypoints” mobile app for simplified control. It has improved Wi-Fi and mapping capabilities, active international time zones, visual LED cues, customizable voice prompts. The company summarized its new features:

  • Routes with multiple stops: Waypoint sequencing allows users to create delivery routes with the ability to customize stops, durations, and UI prompts.
  • Closed zones: User-defined virtual barriers restrict access to designated areas of the map.
  • New ROI calculator: ROI tracking and analysis tools allow you to measure the financial impact of your automation investment.
  • CC User Portal: Redesigned for simpler and more intuitive operation.
  • Waypoints mobile app: Allows you to make calls remotely with just one touch.

Quasi Robotics is also modernizing its equipment

Quasi offers two robots: Model C2, an autonomous delivery robot, and Model R2, an autonomous mobile manipulator. The C2 has three levels of shelves that can hold a total of 175 pounds (79.3 kg) and has a 16-hour battery life.

The R2 features an eight-degree-of-freedom pick-and-place robot arm with a 3.2-foot (0.9-meter) reach. Additionally, the new C2 model includes:

  • New AI Path Smoothing enables gradual smoothing of the movement, which allows for reduced “bouncing” at higher speeds, smoother curves and shorter travel distances between waypoints
  • Improved Wi-Fi connectivity dialogues and processes
  • Improved area mapping and localization procedures
  • International time zones are now supported
  • Visual LED light cues during the start-up and shutdown process
  • Voice selection of six options for system/custom voice prompts

Quasi Robotics said it remains committed to driving AMR innovation. It said the release of Cloud Connect and Q.AI 2.0 demonstrates its commitment to delivering cutting-edge systems that meet evolving customer needs.

The Cloud Connect 2.0 software update is available now at no charge to current C2 and R2 customers.
