Democrats Plan Fake ‘Hearing’ to Spread Lies About 2025 Project

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign publicly admitted two months ago that it intentionally misled voters about the 2025 Project. Now, House Democrats will join the chorus in feigned outrage.

The party’s Steering and Policy Committee, headed by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y. (not an official House committee), plans to hold a fake “hearing” on the 2025 Project on Tuesday.

Expect Democrats to repeatedly invoke Donald Trump’s name and link it to Project 2025 — even though the former president is not involved in the initiative and has called it “simple disinformation spread by radical left-wing Democrats.”

“Don’t trust them!” Trump added.

But that won’t stop Democrats from attending the event on Tuesday, starting with their leader, Jeffries.

“It’s Project 2025 week because my extreme MAGA Republican colleagues are determined to push Trump’s Project 2025 on the American people,” Jeffries said — incorrectly — on the House floor last week.

Launched by The Heritage Foundation more than two years ago, Project 2025 has grown into a coalition of more than 110 conservative organizations that have developed a transition plan for the next presidential administration. Its work is nonpartisan and available to whoever occupies the White House next year.

Many of her policy recommendations—such as securing the U.S.-Mexico border and freeing up American energy production—are wildly popular. But her recommendations to curtail the administrative state have brought the left to a near breaking point.

The Daily Signal has been documenting the left’s lies about Project 2025 for months, and it will continue to do so, including for today’s hearing. (You can prepare yourself by reading Evan Maguire’s excellent commentary on the five biggest lies about the initiative.)

But we are not alone. In total, news organizations from around the world have published more than 60 articles documenting the Democrats’ fraud.

Since replacing Joe Biden in the presidential race in July, Harris and her campaign have falsely attacked the 2025 Project and the policies outlined in Heritage’s latest effort, “Mandate for Leadership,” on a near-daily basis. The 2025 Project was a major theme at last month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago and was a topic Harris discussed during the Sept. 10 presidential debate with Trump.

Then House Democrats will mislead and distort the facts.

They provided few details about Tuesday’s event, beyond advertising it in The Washington Post as a multimedia spectacle that would feature some elements similar to those in the work of the sham commission that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, protest at the U.S. Capitol.

According to the Post, some J6 staff and outside consultants — including the filmmaker — are working with Democrats on a fake “hearing” on the 2025 Project.

The event will take place at 2:15 p.m. in the Capitol. Jeffries plans to broadcast it live.

Rep. Jared Huffman, a California Democrat who co-founded the party task force Stop Project 2025, touted the event as “showing people what’s really in Trump Project 2025” — falsely repeating one of Democrats’ favorite lines about Trump.

When it comes to showing what’s inside, Americans don’t need Huffman’s help. They can do that now by visiting Project2025.org. The entire volume of Mandate for Leadership is available for anyone to read for free.

With over 4 million downloads since its April 2023 release, the book easily outshines some other titles released last year. By comparison, Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us was the best-selling novel with 1.2 million copies.

Whether any Democrats have bothered to read the 2025 Project is another question entirely.

And given the Democrats’ latest line of attack this week — that Project 2025 “could effectively ban in vitro fertilization” — it seems the answer is a resounding “no.”

There is not a single mention of in vitro fertilization on any of the 922 pages.

But that didn’t stop Harris from releasing an ad suggesting otherwise.

Lies like this will be repeated nonstop until election day.

Lacking a political platform of her own, Harris resorted to running against Project 2025. When pressed to take a position, she offered ideas that diverged radically from her previous positions—from helping undocumented immigrants to banning fracking.

The theatrics of Tuesday’s mock “hearing” may be amusing to those who trade in lies. For the rest of us, we will help make sure Americans know fact from fiction.
