Cashfree hires former PhonePe exec Nitin Pulyani as head of product and VP of product development

Fintech startup Cashless Payments has hired former PhonePe executive Nitin Pulyani as its chief product officer and senior vice president (SVP).

In his new role, Pulyani will be responsible for product development and innovation, as well as developing strategic growth initiatives for Cashfree, the company said in a statement.

Previously, Pulyani was a product leader at Mumbai-based fintech startup Jupiter. He was also the Director of Product Management at PhonePe from 2018 to 2022.

Pulyani has over two decades of experience in product development and management, and his portfolio also includes companies such as NeoGrowth and Ola.

“As the Indian digital economy continues to expand, I see tremendous potential to leverage Cashfree’s years of research and innovation in fintech to drive growth and scalability for businesses,” said Pulyani.

This development is key to Cashfree’s decision to appoint Harsh Gupta, former vice president of Razorpay, as its chief revenue officer (CRO).

According to reports, these appointments are in line with Cashfree’s market expansion strategy.

Founded by Akash Sinha and Reeju Datta in 2015, Cashfree operates a full-stack digital payment solutions platform. It claims to help over 6 lakh businesses with payment collections, vendor payouts, instant loan disbursements, and e-commerce refunds.

Cashfree includes companies such as The company’s major clients include Cred, BigBasket, Zomato, Ixigo, Acko, Zoomcar and Delhivery.

In July, the Bengaluru-based company became the first entity to receive Payment Aggregator Cross Border (PA-CB) license when issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulatory guidelines entities facilitating cross-border payments.

This license allows the startup to process cross-border online transactions for the import and export of goods and services.

In March, Cashfree introduced its Embedded Payments payment solution enabling software platforms to facilitate direct payments between businesses and users.
