HARTING to present innovative connection technology at InnoTrans 2024

ESPELKAMP – September 24, 2024 – Today, more than 90% of rail transport is electric. This puts railways far ahead of cars in terms of CO emissions2 emissions, while making a significant contribution to a climate-neutral future. Under the slogan “The Future of Mobility”, this year’s InnoTrans – the leading international trade fair for transport technology – will focus on the development of sustainable rail transport. In this context, from 24 to 27 September 2024 in Berlin, HARTING will present innovative connection technology for a green world.

“The future is digital, electric and sustainable. With our connectivity solutions, we create the necessary conditions for this. We work towards our vision of ‘Connecting an All-Electric Society’ every day,” explained Norbert Gemmeke, Managing Director of GBU HARTING Electric, at the trade fair.

The All Electric Society (AES) is a vision of a future world where all energy needs are met by electricity. The energy required to turn this vision into reality is generated by sustainable energy sources – such as wind and solar – then converted into electricity and distributed as needed via smart grids. To make this possible, data and electricity must be able to flow without limits at all times.

The technology group is paving the way for innovative connection technologies and tailored cable solutions that network the five AES sectors (industry, mobility, energy, infrastructure and agriculture), thus enabling the transmission of data and electricity exactly where they are needed and at any time.

In line with the trade fair emphasis, HARTING is focusing on the mobility sector at InnoTrans, specifically on rail technology. This is because connectors are essential not only in long-distance transport, but also in local transport. Efficient rail vehicles that provide maximum availability must be flexibly adaptable and minimise downtime during service or repair work. Connection technology makes a key contribution here, including as a communication solution for passenger information systems and as a power supply for drives in the high-voltage range.

Specifically, the Technology Group will present the following solutions at InnoTrans 2024:

Innovations for sustainability and the circular economy: HARTING will be presenting lighter interfaces and cable assemblies at this year’s trade fair stand that enable significant weight savings. The Technology Group also provides information on the digital product passport and the product carbon footprint (PCF) of its products.

Digital fast lane for engineers: What contribution can the new Han High Power Configurator and the digital twin (AAS data) make to accelerating product development processes? HARTING will also be presenting this at this year’s InnoTrans. The Generative AI Demonstrator also provides insights into the future of design and construction.

Future-proof data transmission: In addition to the latest developments in connection technology such as Single Pair Ethernet (SPE), HARTING will also be presenting modular IT solutions and UIC IT solutions up to Category 8 for new projects and modernizations.

Plug & play connectivity between vehicles: Together with its partner Studer Cables, the Technology Group will be presenting an overview of the full range of services offered by its competence center at this leading trade fair for transport technology – from engineering, 3D simulations and service life testing to tailored connection solutions.
