India, Uzbekistan discuss strategic partnership

New Delhi, Sep 25 (PTI) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday met Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojayev and discussed strategic partnership in several sectors.

Highlighting the phenomenal growth of the digital payments ecosystem in India, the Union Finance Minister offered an opportunity for Uzbek fintech firms to collaborate with Indian companies to develop innovative products.

As the Ministry of Finance informed in a post on portal X, there were also discussions on potential #investment opportunities in IFSC @GiftCity.

Sitharaman met Khodjaev, who is also minister for investment and foreign trade, ahead of the 9th annual meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Both ministers discussed strategic partnership in the areas of IT, education, digital connectivity, renewable energy, civilian applications of nuclear energy and healthcare, Ayurvedic medicine and pharmaceuticals.

Khodjaev assured of long-term cooperation with India in various sectors aimed at increasing trade and business opportunities.
