The Xbox and Xbox Game Pass mobile apps for Android and iOS are being improved.
Many Xbox Game Pass app features will be added to the main Xbox app, and Xbox Game Pass will no longer be available for download in November.
The update will be rolling out first to Xbox beta members, before rolling out to all users shortly thereafter.

The Xbox mobile gaming experience just got a little less complicated.

Microsoft is combining the Xbox and Xbox Game Pass mobile apps for Android and iOS, the company announced Wednesday. Currently, gamers can use the Xbox mobile app to track achievements, join party chats and stay connected with friends, while the Xbox Game Pass app is used to see what games are available through the subscription service and also allows Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to use Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Later this week, Xbox beta users will be able to use many Xbox Game App features in the main Xbox app, including browsing the Xbox Game Pass catalog and using perks, with this support rolling out to everyone shortly thereafter. The retired Xbox Game Pass app will no longer be available for download in November 2024.

Starting today, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to access Xbox Cloud Gaming via Xbox.com/play.

Microsoft has big mobile ambitions for Xbox

Microsoft is currently working on a major mobile strategy for Xbox.

Earlier this year, Xbox president Sarah Bond stated that the long-talked-about Xbox Mobile Store would launch in July 2024. While that hasn’t happened anytime soon — and as of this writing, there’s no new launch window for the store — Bond noted at the time that the store would initially feature first-party games like Candy Crush and Minecraft, before expanding to include titles from third-party partners.

A few weeks ago, gamers discovered an Xbox Mobile Store website thanking Xbox Insiders for signing up and trying out the app.
