Extreme Makeover star Eduardo Xol dead at 58 after being stabbed in Palm Springs apartment

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition star Eduardo Xol has died at the age of 58.

Xol died on Friday – 10 days after he was stabbed in his apartment in downtown Palm Springs, California, the Desert Sun reports.

On Sept. 10, the interior designer was found with “serious injuries consistent with assault” after he called 911 for help.

Xol reportedly told police he was stabbed but did not identify the suspect.

However, police have charged Richard Joseph Gonzales, 34, with attempted murder in connection with the stabbing, and officers will now seek to upgrade the charge to murder.

Police have arrested 34-year-old Richard Joseph Gonzales on a charge of murder in connection with the stabbing.

Gonzales apparently called police the day Xola was found with stab wounds and stated that he had been assaulted the previous night.

Investigators determined he was the suspect in the Xola knife attack and was arrested.

Xol joined the cast of Extreme Makeover in its second season on ABC in 2007 and appeared on the show until its eighth season.

Early in his career in Mexico he also starred in several telenovelas.

Former editor-in-chief of People en Español magazine, Richard Pérez-Feria, honored Xol on Instagram after receiving news of his death.

“It is almost incomprehensible that I am writing this post to say goodbye to someone who was so present and so important in my life,” Pérez-Feria wrote.

“When I found out that Eduardo Xol had left, I went crazy. I couldn’t process the news because it didn’t fit with my thousands of experiences with him.

‘Please don’t ask me how or why at this point… what matters most is who he was: a talented, beautiful, passionate friend, brother, son and partner… Sending healing love during this terrible time to his circle of friends and family who loved him so much. Unfortunately, tomorrow is not assured. Love each other. Rest in peace, Eduardo.’
