Malerkotla police handed over 30 stolen mobile phones to their owners

Malerkotla police have urged residents who may have lost their mobile phones or other electronic gadgets to immediately inform the nearest police station or cyber crime cell so that the kidnappers or thieves can be traced.

The police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh, organized an operation during which they handed over 30 stolen mobile phones worth around Rs 6 lakh to their owners. He said the phones were recovered by a team of cops led by Manpreet Singh, commander of the cyber cell.

The SSP appreciated the team’s efforts in searching for stolen and hijacked phones based on information provided by the complainants. He said the team identified the abductees and robbers using digital devices available on cyber cell and thoroughly investigated each case to nab the suspects and recover the mobile phones. Addressing the gathering at the event, he said, Gagan Ajit Singh urged residents to be careful while carrying anything expensive and in case of any untoward incident, inform the police as soon as possible.

He said: “Although we have experienced staff to track digital equipment, any delay in receiving information makes their job difficult and the kidnapper or thief manages to escape the police’s reach.”
