TV Series Review: Dexter – The Exponent

TV Series Review: Dexter

As we enter the spooky season, horror TV shows and movies are making a comeback in popularity. These movies and shows feature monsters, murders, and other horrific crimes. However, if people aren’t into monsters and just want something to watch for a few days, Dexter seasons 1 and 2 are a very good option.

The series is based on a series of novels by Jeff Lindsay, in which we follow the fate of serial killer Dexter Morgan, who tracks down people who have escaped from justice due to corruption or failed trials. Unfortunately, being a serial killer doesn’t pay the bills. In his day job, Dexter works as a forensic blood spatter technician for the Miami Police Department. There’s a lot of stakes and drama in the hunt for the next murder, but there are also some minor office problems for Dexter to deal with. Furthermore, to maintain his cover as a “normal” person, Dexter dates someone and acts as a pseudo-father to several children, leading to some crazy interactions.

Season 1 follows Dexter as he is teased and taunted by a new serial killer called the Ice-Truck Killer, who appears to know who Dexter is and challenges him to check him out before he kills again. Just as things seem to be solving themselves, Season 2 begins with all of Dexter’s victims being found and our beloved serial killer conducting a sweep while both his police and the FBI try to hunt him down.

One of the few downsides to “Dexter” is that it was made in the early 2000s, which means it contains inappropriate language and jokes that are hard to sit through. However, it’s not enough to impact the plot or storytelling, which is nice.

Overall, 7.5 out of 10.
