MOSCOW, September 27. /TASS/. The BRICS countries are laying the foundations for cooperation in solving the global task of maintaining the world’s energy balance, adviser to the Russian president Anton Kobyakov told reporters at a briefing during the Russian Energy Week.

“It must be admitted that today the BRICS are both the largest oil exporters and the largest consumers. The agreements reached within this association form the basis for cooperation in solving the global task of maintaining the world’s energy balance,” Kobyakov said. He noted that the BRICS agreements are an important step towards ensuring energy sovereignty and security.

The largest gas exporting countries are also involved in solving the world energy problem, the official added. “The case of gas is very similar. The only difference is that few countries are able to offer large amounts of natural gas for export; the world’s main gas producers and consumers are either already in BRICS or want to join it,” he added. he added.
