Why can’t this Walmart employee stand LEGO fans?

A Walmart employee expressed his regrets over an interaction with a Lego enthusiast who visited his store. Pure (@skylouieee) posted a viral TikTok in which he lashed out at a shopper who wanted to open various Lego packages. Reason? They were trying to get their hands on a specific character.

Lego section

Pure begins his video irritated by a recent interaction with a Lego fan at the Walmart where he works.

“Every time I go to work there’s a problem in the LEGO department,” he says. “Brother, why do you always do the most?”

He tells how he was coming back from break when someone asked for help in the LEGO department.

Upon arrival, “The guy said he wanted to take these little Lego packages out of the suitcase.”

Pure claims he opened the locked box to remove the packages for him. However, the customer suddenly asked Pure if there was a specific character inside by showing him a photo on his phone.

“I thought, ‘No, this is all random. You’ll have to choose randomly and hope you get that character,” Pure recalled.

However, the buyer was not fooled and asked Pure to take each package off the shelf and check whether it had this specific character.

“I thought, ‘Bro, they’re all random, so you’ll probably get a random one in the end. It doesn’t show what character you’re getting,” a Lego enthusiast Walmart employee tried to explain.

Try before you buy?

Hearing this, the customer hit up Pure with an unusual request. He basically asked the young man if he could open the toys right in the store. This way he could build Lego sets and check whether they contained the figures he needed.

Pure says it tried to explain to the customer that a purchase must be made before construction can begin. According to Pure, the buyer insisted he wanted to open all the packages so he could leave with the one he wanted.

“Put all the boxes back in the suitcase,” Pure continues. “Because I won’t let him open all the Legos to see which one he’s looking for, brother. I won’t let him do all this.”

Pure says: “The worst part is that he kept pressing the Lego help button so that someone could come and try to get him the specific Lego piece he needed. I’m like bro, I’m the only person who can work in the Lego department.

TikTokers help

There was one person in the comments section of Pure’s video who seemed equally enthusiastic about LEGO. They suggested the Walmart employee take a look at the product’s packaging. Apparently they contain codes that, when scanned, tell people what’s inside.

“For the future, some Lego packaging actually includes QR codes that you can scan on the bottom of the packaging to see what figure is inside. Not every set has this, but there are quite a few that do!” they wrote.

Another echoed this sentiment, writing: “There are codes on the blind bags that you can refer to online if you want a specific character.”

Others simply couldn’t believe that a die-hard LEGO fan wouldn’t jump online to get the exact figure they wanted.

“There are websites where you can buy certain items in certain colors along with the characters,” one wrote.

But it seemed like there was definitely a way people could “beat” the blind ad bag system: “No, there is an app that can reveal random numbers. There is a code at the bottom of the box where you scan.
