D-Day café owner awarded French honor

Madame Arlette said she had received many letters of congratulations on the award, including one “very moving” from French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu, who proposed the award to her.

In it, he wrote that she was “recognized for the wonderful quality she played in creating the history of this iconic café.”

“I send you my warmest congratulations,” he concluded.

She said receiving the award on the 80th anniversary was “very moving”.

“I also think it should be shared with my parents who initiated it,” she added.

“I feel very honored and moved by this award, which reflects my years of dedication to perpetuating the history we share.”
