Taobao, Tmall will integrate logistics services of e-commerce giant JD

Chinese technology company Alibaba Group Holding Ltd’s online marketplaces Taobao and Tmall will soon officially integrate the logistics services of Chinese e-commerce giant JD, with launch scheduled for mid-October.

Once the service is available, sellers on Taobao and Tmall will have one more option – JD Logistics – when choosing a delivery method, the company told China Daily.

Meanwhile, JD will bring to the online marketplace Cainiao Express and Cainiao Station, standalone parcel delivery and distribution services provided by Cainiao Group, Alibaba’s logistics arm.

JD also plans to add Alipay, an online payment tool operated by financial technology company Ant Group. The service is expected to be rolled out as an additional payment method on the JD platform ahead of the Double 11 or Singles Day shopping festival.

Moreover, consumers purchasing products on Alibaba’s Taobao platform can now use Tencent’s WeChat Pay to make transactions starting Friday. Earlier this month, Taobao and Tmall announced they would start accepting mobile payment options through Tencent’s WeChat Pay as part of a broader push to improve consumers’ shopping experiences.
