Razer launches the Freyja gaming cushion with multi-directional touch elements for extreme immersion

WTF?! Razer has decided to turn one of its concept pieces into an actual product you can buy. Designed for gaming or office chairs, the Freyja gaming cushion uses haptic elements to vibrate six individual panels so you can literally feel what’s happening in the game.

Razer showed Project Esther at CES in January as a concept device. It was expected to join a long list of other concepts that the company never turned into a real product, but now, 9 months later, the rebranded Razer Freyja can be purchased for $299.99.

Announced at RazerCon, the Razer Freyja cushion offers what Razer calls multi-directional touch control, powered by six Sensa HD touch motor actuators. Four of these motors are located on the back of the cushion and two more on the seat. Users can also adjust the vibration intensity via Razer Synapse software, from 0% to 100%.

The pillow connects to your device via Bluetooth (for Android) or via the Razer HyperSpeed wireless connection for PCs. It reacts to the sound from the game, movie or music being played, transforming it into vibrations.

Some current and upcoming games offer more refined touch feedback and customized effects thanks to Razer Sensa HD Haptics integration. These include STALKER 2, Frostpunk 2, Hogwarts Legacy World of Warships, Final Fantasy XVI and more.

Razer adds that the cushion is equipped with an advanced quick-attachment system that protects against potential tugging or pulling – for example, when you forget you’re connected and move your chair too far away from the computer. It has also been designed to fit a wide range of chairs.

Razer announced another new peripheral at RazerCon: the Kraken V4 Pro headset, which also features Razer Sensa HD touch technology. The company suggests pairing them with a pillow, so both your body and head can experience physical feedback from the games.

The latest model in the Kraken line offers HyperSpeed wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, USB and 3.5 mm jack, OLED display and a host of high-end audio specifications. The headset is not intended for gamers on a budget and is priced at $399.99.

Both Freyja and Kraken V4 Pro are available for purchase now, with shipping starting on October 7.

The idea behind Freya isn’t entirely new. There was an Arcadeo Gaming chair from 2020 that has 10 built-in touch zones. And the Assassin’s Creed Mirage T-shirt with haptic feedback was one of many similar products that have been released over the years.
