Google is rolling out Gemini Live with new voices for Android users, and it’s free for now

Google has now made Gemini Live available to all Android users, expanding access to its conversational AI assistant that was previously limited to premium subscribers. Gemini Live allows for natural, flowing conversations where users can interrupt and change the topic mid-discussion. You can use it for brainstorming, answering questions, and more, right through the Gemini app. The assistant also works in the background, which means you can multitask without having to open the app.

One of the highlights of this rollout is the addition of 10 new voices that will allow users to personalize their experience by choosing from options such as “Nova” (a calm, mid-tone) or “Capella” (a higher tone with a British accent). While the current version is available in English, Google plans to roll out support for other languages and iOS soon.

While Gemini Live doesn’t yet include integrations like Gmail and YouTube Music (part of Gemini’s upcoming extensions), users can expect these features in future updates. This broader rollout makes Gemini Live a powerful new tool for Android users looking for more interactive AI experiences.

New Google Gemini voices

Gemini Live offers 10 unique voice options that allow users to customize the tone and style of the AI to suit their preferences. These voices are designed to provide a variety of tones, from calm and soothing to energetic and bright, enhancing the user’s conversational experience. Here are the available votes:

  • Nova – Calm and midrange, perfect for relaxing conversations.
  • Ursa – Engaged and midrange, with a more interactive tone.
  • Vega – Bright and higher tone, providing a lively and cheerful atmosphere.
  • Pegasus – Committed to a deeper tone, making it more authoritative.
  • Orbit – energetic and deeper, ideal for high energy exchange.
  • Lyra – Bright and taller, similar to Vega but with a lighter tone.
  • Orion – Bright and deeper, providing a confident but accessible sound.
  • Dipper – Engaged and deeper, balancing warmth and engagement.
  • Eclipse – Energetic and midrange, offering a lively yet neutral tone.
  • Capella – with a British accent and a higher key, adding an international character.

Each voice is designed to adapt to different contexts, making the conversation more personalized and dynamic. Users can change voices in the Gemini app settings under “Gemini Voice”. These voices increase the realism of interactions by imitating various emotional tones.
