Over 20 startups looking to showcase their business at Republic of Work in Cork

An app aimed at improving pain management for people suffering from dementia is one of many technology business ideas that will be presented during the upcoming Pre-Accelerator Showcase Day organized by the National Startup Accelerator (NDRC).

Cork-based A.Chara co-founders Reece Hogan and Samuel O’Connell will be presenting their insights to investors and the wider audience at an event at Republic of Work on October 11, which will showcase other products including the Artificial Intelligence Sales Tool, the video marketing and innovative travel technology.

A.Chara is one of 21 startups currently participating in NDRC’s quarterly Pre-Accelerator program, which aims to help early-stage founders turn their ideas into sustainable enterprises with sustainable financing.

Speaking about A.Chara’s involvement in the program, Reece Hogan said: “Our time in the Pre-Accelerator program has been incredibly valuable. Both Samuel and I have family members with dementia, so this project was very close to our hearts.

“This program provided us with the tools and mentorship to put our passion project on a solid business foundation to sharpen our vision and reach the next milestone. We are now even better equipped to help more effectively treat pain for people with dementia and improve care practices for families and the healthcare professionals who support them.”

Speaking at the presentation, Program Associate at Republic of Work and NDRC Regional Manager Andy McManagan said: “We look forward to showcasing the work of this group of NDRC Pre-Accelerator participants on October 11 and encourage other startups to consider the program when the next application window opens opening in early 2025

“The NDRC pre-accelerator has been designed to be accessible to everyone across Ireland through a fully virtual format. Whether you’re in the city or the countryside, our program provides startups with expert guidance and resources, helping founders overcome geographic barriers and turn their innovative ideas into successful ventures.”

The NDRC Pre-Accelerator is a fully virtual six-week program that takes place every three months and is open to startups from across Ireland.

It aims to help new entrepreneurs validate their idea, refine their offering and connect with a growing network of other founders, with the program already supporting 250 companies.
