DDA enables DISCOMs to provide new electricity connections: Raj Niwas

Raj Niwas on Tuesday said that as a huge relief to lakhs of people in the development areas of 105 urbanized villages, colonies regulated by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), he has allowed DISCOMs to provide new electricity connections.

Giving details, officials said the move follows the directions of Delhi Lt Governor (LG) VK Saxena, who has received representations in this regard from all Delhi MPs, some MLAs and several resident welfare associations. Moreover, during LG’s visits to such areas, this demand was raised by hundreds of people with whom LG had contact.

The beneficiaries include: colonies whose colonies were settled

prior to the issuance of the Land Pooling Rules 2018, land allotted to landless persons under the 20 points scheme, industry/godown situated in non-conforming industrial area as per MPD-2021 and JJ colonies.

DDA has allowed such mergers in all areas where NoC has been issued by DDA or any other government agency in the past or where plans have been approved for development by any government agency.

Earlier, in June 2023, a decision was taken that no new connections could be allowed in the development areas of 105 urbanized villages in land pooling areas as permissions for new construction in these areas were to be issued by the DDA after later notification to the sectors on these areas in accordance with the Land Pooling Policy.

The June 2023 order granted relief to Lal Dora, extended colonies of Lal Dora and PM-UDAY in land pooling areas.

Certain areas within the development area have been reported to have sanction/prior approval from various government authorities.

Before the land pooling notification, the MCD had regularized the status of 567 colonies in Delhi. Some of the colonies fall in the land consolidation area. These colonies were regularized by the MCD before the development area notification was announced.

However, all such families who were regularized by the MCD before October 24, 2018 (the date of promulgation of the 2018 Regulations) will be covered by the above-mentioned. paragraph 1 letter e) Regulations of 2018

Also, land allotted to landless people (covered in land pooling area) under 20-point Program by concerned departments of GNCTD. Such lands allotted before 24/10/2018 by GNCTD are also covered by the provisions of Sec. 3 section 1 letter e) Rules, 2018. In such cases, the concerned DISCOM may approach the concerned Departments of GNCTD for clarification.
