Michael Schumacher’s daughter is getting married in an extremely private wedding

The daughter of seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher, Gina, married Iain Bethke at the weekend at the family estate in Majorca.

Extraordinary privacy and security measures were in place during the exclusive ceremony, which took place on the tranquil island of Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. The ceremony, which took place on Saturday, was closely guarded, ensuring the couple’s special day was intimate and away from the prying eyes of the media and public opinion. In keeping with the Schumacher family’s well-known preference for privacy, extensive security was in place, and guests were reportedly asked to hand over their phones to prevent unauthorized photo taking.

Close family members were in attendance, including Gina’s mother Corinna Schumacher, her younger brother Mick Schumacher – Mercedes’ reserve driver – and her uncle Ralf Schumacher. The guest list, although limited, also included Ralf’s new partner, Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne. Due to the very private nature of the ceremony, only selected photos taken by the event’s official photographer were made publicly available, so the bride and groom could only share what they wished for this special day.

It is currently unknown whether Michael was present at his daughter’s wedding, although the BILD report states that it is “very likely” that the F1 icon was present.

Ralf Schumacher shared a post with his partner Bousquet-Cassagne on social media:

“We had a wonderful time in Majorca, the sunsets and the atmosphere were magical.”

The former F1 driver’s health has been a matter of great concern since he suffered serious brain damage in a skiing accident in 2013. The Schumacher family has maintained a highly protective stance regarding Michael’s condition, calling for privacy and understanding from the public and media.

Michael’s former manager, Willi Weber, spoke to the media about the recent nuptials and stated:

“I wasn’t invited, but even if I was invited, I wouldn’t be at the wedding. My health is not the best at the moment. I wouldn’t like to go to Majorca.

“I wish her all the best. I hope she found the right man, that’s always important. After all, it’s just a game. But I hope everything will go well and that she will be happy.”

Former Ferrari boss Jean Todt also previously spoke to the media about Michael, stating:

“Michael is here, so I don’t miss him.

“(But he) just isn’t the same Michael he used to be. He is different and is guided wonderfully by his wife and children who protect him.

“His life is different now and I am honored to share moments with him. That’s all I have to say.

“Unfortunately, his fate befell him ten years ago. He is no longer the Michael we knew in Formula 1.

“(He is in) the best hands… surrounded by people who love him.”
