Application Status classes canceled through October 15

BOONE, N.C. – Classes at Appalachian State University are canceled through Tuesday, Oct. 15 as western North Carolina continues to recover from Helene’s illness.

The university is working in extraordinary conditions. Their fall break is October 14-15, and classes will resume no earlier than Wednesday, October 16. Class cancellations apply to both App State’s Boone and Hickory campuses.

Adverse weather condition no. 3 applies until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11.

Officials say there is no structural damage to any of the residence halls.

On the Boone campus, residence halls, the central dining hall, campus markets, student government, student health services and the student recreation center remain open and operational.

App State track and field is gradually resuming training and competition. The Varsity Gym and Holmes Convocation Center suffered damage from the storm.
