Springfield in Chicopee will receive $2 million to improve three parks

Chicopee and Springfield will receive a combined $2 million in state grants to upgrade three parks.

State Sen. Adam Gomez, who represents both cities, announced Wednesday that the grants are part of a $27.8 million package from the state that will be divided among 54 communities for park improvements and open space acquisitions. They come from four different programs managed by the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Management.
