Meta is making changes to its Facebook monetization program. The company will consolidate three creator monetization programs into one. This is intended to make it easier for creators to start earning money on the platform. Currently, creators have three ways to monetize the platform: through in-stream ads, reel ads, and performance bonuses. All three methods have different eligibility requirements and registration processes. Under the new monetization program, creators who want to earn money on the platform will only have to apply once, and the implementation process will be one-time.

Meta recently announced that it has paid over $2 billion to creators over the past year for their records, videos, photos and text posts. Still, the company admitted that creators are not fully exploiting their earning potential on the platform – only a third of them use more than one of its programs.

What has changed?

The new consolidated program will operate similarly to existing programs and will include a performance-based pay model. Creators who monetize their content can still earn revenue from advertising on their discs, long-form videos, photos and text posts.

Additionally, Meta will give them access to a new Insights tab, allowing them to track their earnings across content formats and identify which videos and posts are generating the most revenue. This means a departure from the previous configuration, in which separate tabs with statistics were available for each program.

How to apply for the new monetization program?

The new monetization feature is currently in beta and will remain so until next year. Meta will start inviting 10 lakh creators who are already monetizing on the platform to participate in the beta test this week, and plans to expand the invitations to more people in the coming months.

While creators are not required to take part in the test, those who choose to do so will not be able to re-join Facebook’s standalone monetization programs. Those interested in joining the new program but have not received an invitation quickly can express their interest via the official content monetization page on Facebook.
