Hardware, features, availability, pricing and more

Samsung is the only major Android manufacturer that still produces flagship Android tablets. Moreover, the Galaxy Tab line is available in various display sizes. As a follow-up to the excellent Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 from August 2023, the Korean company recently unveiled the Galaxy Tab S10 series. Like other Samsung devices launching this year, the Tab S10 offers modest improvements over its predecessor. If you want a flagship Android tablet, there is no better option. Here’s everything you need to know about Samsung’s latest tablets, the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra.

The Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra retain the same design as the Tab S9 series. Two minor differences include a 0.1mm narrower waist and a slight weight reduction: 10g on the Plus model and 15g on the Ultra model. Samsung says it uses Enhanced Armor Aluminum technology in its devices, although it did not quantify the improvements over the previous version.

Additionally, the latest Galaxy tablets are almost indistinguishable from the Tab S9 series. They also retain the best features of previous models, including IP68 dust and water resistance, S Pen support, and large and bright AMOLED panels.

While this same design may disappoint some, there is a benefit to it. Samsung says Galaxy Tab S9 cases and accessories are compatible with the Tab S10 series. So if you’re planning to upgrade from the Tab S9 series to the Tab S10 series, you can reuse your existing accessories.

The display sizes of the Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra remain unchanged at 12.4 inches and 14.6 inches, respectively. The Dynamic AMOLED 2x 120 Hz screens are beautiful. To ensure an even better viewing experience, they feature advanced anti-reflective technology that reduces glare and reflections. Samsung doesn’t call the cover glass Gorilla Armor, so it’s not the same anti-reflective technology it used in its flagship Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Samsung says it uses AI-powered Dialogue Boost technology to improve the performance of the four speakers, which amplifies voices and provides better clarity.

The main hardware change in the Galaxy Tab S10 series is the new MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chip. For the first time, Samsung uses MediaTek SoCs in its high-end Galaxy tablets. The Dimensity 9300+ is said to increase the Tab S10 Ultra’s CPU and GPU performance by 18% and 28% respectively over its predecessor. The NPU claims to deliver 14% more performance.

Display and dimensions aside, there are a few minor differences between the Tab S10+ and the Tab S10 Ultra. The latter has a cutout in the display that houses two 12 MP cameras, including an ultra-wide-angle one. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 but lacks 5G mmWave, while the Tab S10+ supports slower Wi-Fi 6E but is compatible with mmWave networks.

Where is the Galaxy Tab S10?

Unlike the last few years, Samsung didn’t launch the regular Galaxy Tab S10 alongside its Plus and Ultra siblings. So if you’re looking for an 11-inch tablet, consider the Google Pixel Tablet 2 or go for Samsung’s previous Galaxy Tab offerings like the Galaxy Tab S9 or even the Tab S9 FE.

The Galaxy Tab S10 may debut alongside the Galaxy S25 series in early 2025. The delay will allow Samsung to persuade more interested consumers to buy more expensive tablets, which will improve its profits.

It all depends on Galaxy AI

The Galaxy Tab S10 series launches with One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14. It features Galaxy AI integration and Samsung’s promise to provide seven years of OS updates, the same as the best Galaxy phones.

The latest Samsung tablets come with all the popular Galaxy AI features, including Circle to Search, Sketch to Image, Note Assist and PDF overlay translation. The latter allows you to translate PDF files smoothly and view the translated text through an overlay. Handwriting Assistant helps you organize your handwritten notes, making them more legible.

You can use the button on the included S Pen to launch Air Command and quickly access Galaxy AI Assistant. If you use the Book Cover Keyboard, it has a dedicated Galaxy AI key for this purpose.

The core One UI features on the Galaxy Tab S10 series remain the same as on other Galaxy tablets. As Samsung’s newest flagship devices, the Tab S10+ and Ultra should be among the first to receive the One UI 7 update to Android 15 later this year.

The Galaxy S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra debuted alongside the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE on September 26, 2024. Samsung began accepting pre-orders immediately after the unveiling, and the devices will hit retail stores starting October 3.

The prices of the Korean company’s latest flagship tablets remain unchanged from their predecessor. Prices for the Galaxy Tab S10+ start at $1,000, and the 14.6-inch Tab S10 Ultra costs as much as $1,200. Both devices are available in Moonstone Gray and Platinum Silver shades.

Since there’s no Galaxy Tab S10 model on offer, you’ll pay more to get your hands on Samsung’s latest tablets. This should change with the launch of the regular Tab S10 variant, likely in early 2025.

There is no better Android tablet

Want the most advanced and powerful Android tablet, regardless of price? The Galaxy Tab S10+ or its Ultra brother should be your top choice. They don’t feature any significant improvements over their predecessor, so if you already own a Tab S9, there’s no reason to upgrade to the S10.

However, if you’re looking to buy a flagship Android tablet for the first time and want to go the extra mile, the Tab S10 series ticks all the boxes. It has a big, beautiful display, a powerful processor, AI features, and amazing build quality. This device comes with Samsung’s excellent software support.

If you’re short on money, consider purchasing the Galaxy Tab S9 at a discounted price. It’s as powerful as the Galaxy Tab S10 series, providing almost the same experience at a much lower price.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is a large and efficient tablet with a diagonal of 14.6 inches, which allows you to treat it as a laptop replacement. With the included S Pen and the fast MediaTek Dimensity 9300+, this is probably the Android tablet worth buying, but to really complete the experience you’ll need the optional keyboard cover.
